England women to host Sweden in November

England Women will host Sweden Women in a friendly as part of their preparations for next summer's World Cup.

The international will take place on Sunday, November 11 at Rotherham's New York Stadium.

Head coach Phil Neville told the Football Association website: 'This is another exciting fixture as part of our early preparations for next summer's World Cup.

'Sweden are a strong side, currently sitting 11th in the world rankings, and we know a number of their players well.

'It was important in selecting these friendlies that we made sure we were going to be pitting ourselves against tough opposition who will really test us in the build up to the tournament.'

England played a Euro 2017 qualifier at the New York Stadium in April 2016, drawing 1-1 with Belgium in front of a crowd of more than 10,000.

The venue is among nine put forward in the FA's bid to host the UEFA Women's Euro 2021 finals.

The fixture with Sweden will follow a clash with Brazil on October 6 at Notts County's Meadow Lane and a match against Australia on October 9 at Fulham's Craven Cottage.
