Huge fire engulfs nut roasting factory in Melbourne as 10 workers are evacuated

A nut-roasting factory in Melbourne, forcing 10 employees to be evacuated and nearby residents warned to stay indoors as the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

Fire crews were called to the scene on Barry Road, Campbellfield, Tuesday afternoon where angry black plumes could be seen escaping from the roof.

The Metropolitan Fire Brigade (MFB) warned residents the smoke could be harmful to their health.

'The community is advised to avoid the area and ensure the roads are kept clear for emergency services,' it shared to Twitter.

Residents in the surrounding areas are advised to stay indoors if possible, and keep windows and doors closed and switch off heating and cooling systems.'
